Perimeter

Perimeter can be measured in millimetres (mm), centimetres (cm), metres (m) and kilometres (km).

Perimeters of the following figures are often required to solve real world problems.

Example 8

Find the perimeter of a square paddock of side 29 m.

Solution:

So, the perimeter is 116 m.

Example 9

Find the perimeter of a rectangular field of length 85 m and width 75 m.

Solution:

So, the perimeter is 320 m.

Example 10

Find the perimeter, P, of the triangle shown below.

Solution:

So, the perimeter is 49 cm.
